Dear Members

My year as Captain is sadly drawing to a close and I would like to say it has been an honour to represent the Forest of Galtres Golf Club 2009/2010.

It is my belief that the Club has moved and continues to move forward in all respects and I would like to highlight some particular achievements:

          THE COURSE

The standard of the course is looking and playing great.  I have received numerous compliments from members, ex members and from visitors to the club about the high standard of the course.  This is due to all the hard work put in by Marion and her team of green keepers whom I would personally like to thank on behalf of all the members

TEE BOOKING SYSTEM

The implementation of the tee booking facility has raised the status of the club to a higher level

PROFESSIONAL

Alistair has added his own professional touch to the Club shop which is well stocked with a wide selection of clothing and golfing accessories.   Even the burglary did not dampen his spirits!!

COMMITTEE

The committee this year has worked very hard on behalf of all the members.  We now have our very own web page thanks to all the hard work and effort by Mick Collins.  Members feedback has been extremely positive and complimentary.  It has been a very useful tool keeping members informed of what’s going on at the club and also keeping ex-members in touch home and abroad.

CLUB HOUSE

I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to Paul, Ann and their staff for all the hard work they have put in over this past year

ORDER OF MERIT

The Order of Merit finals day out, sponsored by The Millfield-Beefeater, took place at the Newcastle United Golf Club.  A day to remember for everyone concerned and the less said about our day out after that the better.  At least some of the members gave Newcastle something to remember or was it the other way round?

My heartfelt thanks to all of you for your generous contributions, via the Captains Bunkers, for my nominated Charity, the Guardian Angels, which has funded 2 children’s intensive care beds on the children’s ward, York Hospital.

Good Luck in 2010/2011 to Brian as Captain and Dave Mather as Vice Captain.

Thank you once again for supporting the golf club and myself and may I take this opportunity to pass on my good wishes to you all for the 2010/2011 season.
